Improving revenues with digital parking
Digital parking offers new levels of parking efficiency. Delft city authorities were looking to fully digitize the city’s complete parking chain, including all operational aspects, payment services, parking enforcement and back office administration.
Such digitization and automation would potentially provide the city with increased revenues, while lowering operational costs. But, before being able to use scan vehicles and handheld devices to achieve the sought after efficiencies, pay and display machines had to be made suitable for registering vehicle number plates and mobile payment options had to be optimised to ensure easy payment options.
Spark advised the city authorities in the development and implementation of ticketless parking. To this end, we seconded one of our programme managers who was made responsible for the business cases, tendering and implementation of key applications, including a parking licence system, an enforcement system and a parking rights database. He was also made responsible for external- and internal communication, user-friendliness and privacy.
